ABOUT
Project Overview
The Tech Interactive and Xinampa have partnered to co-create an asynchronous forum to explore community feedback and thoughts on how we can better design and develop culturally relevant and inclusive youth engagement around the topics of agtech, biotech, and food systems. We aim to primarily engage local youth from both rural and urban backgrounds in conversations to surface their ideas, insights, and perspectives into what areas and approaches might be the best educational entry points for these important topics.
Topic
How do we design culturally relevant and inclusive youth engagement around the important regional topics of agtech, biotech, and food systems for communities that are deeply impacted by these fields, but currently have a limited voice in the conversation.
Format
Given the ongoing COVID-19 health crisis, we are exploring a novel forum format that combines physical kits that will be distributed to local youth to stimulate followup community conversation and dialogue on various platforms.
The Fellowship
This project is part of the Public Interest in Technology (PIT) Community Innovation Fellowship Program that is supported by the Association of Science and Technology Centers and Arizona State University. It is a capacity building fellowship intended to support the process of designing and running a public engagement forum on a topic relevant to the local region. The Tech Interactive and Xinampa have partnered to co-create and explore community feedback and thoughts on the topic of how to shape a healthy and equitable agricultural future.
