VALUES
“Agriculture changes the landscape more than anything else we do. It alters the composition of species. We don’t realize it when we sit down to eat, but that is our most profound engagement with the rest of nature.” - Michael Pollan
Land Acknowledgement
Land Acknowledgment for all the locations we are communicating from, the land of the Ohlone, the Muwekma Ohlone people, and the Salinans. We take this opportunity to express our gratitude as guests and to thank the original stewards of this land.
With this project, we hope to...
- elevate community and cultural values about what questions and topics in agriculture, biotech, and food systems that are most important to various communities
- collect youth community voices to discover areas of interest in biotech, agtech and food systems and inform educational contexts that can better broaden trust and participation in science
- learn more about the best ways to empower and inform teens of these topics in informal learning spaces to inform approaches being applied to youth programming at local informal education spaces
- explore a new forum format that can include new voices in conversations about science to deepen trust and increase the sharing and gathering of information
